Who:  UOP Peace and Justice Coalition presents: Ray McGovern and David Dionisi

What:  The Truth:  Can you handle the truth about the Iraq War?

Where:  U.O.P. Grace Covell Hall

When:  Saturday, September 23rd 7:00 p.m.

The UOP Peace and Justice Coalition will play host to one of the most noted Anti Iraq war advocates Ray McGovern on Saturday September 23rd at 7:00 p.m.  The event will be at Grace Covell Hall on the University of the Pacific campusRay McGovern’s 27-year career as a CIA analyst spanned administrations from John F. Kennedy to George H. W. Bush.  In January 2003 a handful of intelligence community alumni/ae, including Ray, created Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity.  VIPS now includes over 35 former professionals from CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Army Intelligence, the FBI, and the National Security Agency.  VIPS’ first effort (of ten thus far) was a same-day critique of Secretary of State Colin Powell’s address to the UN on February 5.  Mr. McGovern is also noted for his confrontation with Donald Rumsfeld on his misleading statement about knowing exactly where Iraq had hidden WMD’s.

Joining Mr. McGovern in a discussion about faulty intelligence will be David Dionisi.  Mr. Dionisi is a former Army Intelligence Officer.  He is the Chief Information Officer for Teach Peace. Dave is the author of American Hiroshima, a book about how to prevent the next 9/11 attack in the United States. Prior to working in corporate America, Dave served the country as an Army Intelligence Officer. His business and military experiences over the last 24 years are complemented by an extensive background as an international volunteer worker in Asia, Central America, Europe and Africa.

The program will open with a reading of the Record’s March 19, 2003 editorial in which it proclaims the invasion of Iraq “morally justifiable”.   Even after all of the pre-war justifications used by the Bush Administration has been discredited and found to be misleading information, the Record still editorializes that the “removal of Saddam Hussein from power was justifiable”.

Come hear veteran intelligence officials give us the facts about the faulty intelligence the Bush Administration used to justify the war in Iraq.  Come here for yourself, from respected insiders, the truth about those claims.

The program will be presented at U.O.P. Grace Covell Hall on Saturday, September 23rd  at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.  Call Jim Walsh at 981-0544 for more information. This event is sponsored by: Antiwar San Joaquin, FreedomFromWar.org and Multifaith Voices for Peace & Justice.
