I want to thank you for
allowing me to join the Teach Peace trip to Liberia and Ethiopia in 2010. It
is one of the most rewarding experiences of my lifetime of 66 years, both
professionally as a nurse and personally. It is indeed a life changing
event.

Teach Peace is an amazing organization that
allows volunteers to deepen their knowledge about the world and inspires them to
work toward change. Going to Liberia with Teach Peace was beyond amazing. My
perspective on the world and life has changed in a very positive way. An
experience like this cannot be explained in a matter of words, it is not until
you witness Liberia with Teach Peace that you truly understand the amazingness
of this organization. The people you meet will change your life. I can't wait to
go back.
Carmen Cueto
Never before have I ever been so inspired by
such an amazing group of people. I was lucky to spend valuable time with
spirited and bright children. They taught me more than I have ever learned in a
classroom. My experience opened my eyes and changed my perspective on life, not
only while in Africa. I never believed that in such a short period of time the
entire way I live could be so greatly impacted. I can't wait to return and
continue to grow as a person.
Renee Chiang
My visit to the Liberia Mission and surrounding
villages demonstrated how providing people with basic opportunities can help
break the cycle of extreme poverty and instill a sense of dignity and hope for a
better future. This experience as a Teach Peace volunteer was truly an education
that opened my eyes and warmed my heart more than I could have ever imagined!
Bob Perkins
It was truly an amazing, eye opening experience
that has changed my life. I am extremely blessed to have been a part of this
mission and look forward to future participation.
Kerri Turmenne
I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to
go to Liberia with the Teach Peace organization. The trip was so well organized
that we were able to participate in multiple worthwhile projects, including a
medical mission, delivery of wheelchairs, delivery of seeds and animals, and
activities with the children in a short period of time. The trip far exceeded my
expectations from spiritual, educational and experiential perspectives and I
look forward to working with this organization in the future.

I recently had the chance to
see firsthand the work that Teach Peace is doing with people in Liberia. I
was truly impressed by the love and dignity this organization shows to
the poorest of God's children while attending to their most basic needs for
food, water, and education. I am humbled to have had a tiny part in their
astoundingly good works.
Barbara Pawlikowski
Recently I participated in a volunteer trip
to Africa hosted by "Teach Peace"
and David Dionisi. The trip was to two of the very poorest countries in Africa:
Liberia (in West Africa and Ethiopia in Eastern Africa). We participated in
providing several types of assistance, such as "seed stock" consisting of goats,
chickens, and vegetable seeds, emergency food, scholarships, medicine and
medical check-ups. Teach Peace has a very important
on-the-ground program in Liberia to assist disabled children living in rural
areas. These children and their extremely poverty-stricken families are in need
of food and the most basic of necessities. I am an "almost Senior Citizen",
however, we had a majority of women and men who were college-age on this
trip. Many of the Teach Peace young people experienced a real
eye-opener in providing service to such poverty-stricken disabled youngsters.
Everyone was fortunate to learn about these two countries and felt rewarded
that we were able to help so many people. Thank you Teach Peace
for this opportunity!

Experiencing Liberia through
Teach Peace was an eye-opening experience that has deeply impacted my
understanding of being a global citizen. Describing my experience is beyond
words; it is something wonderful, sacred, and unique that everyone should
experience with their own eyes.
Emily Chambers
Going to Liberia was an
experience that I cannot even begin to explain; to sum it up it was amazing and
life changing. Liberians are the most beautiful and loving people that I have
ever met. I will always have a special place in my heart for the people I met
and all of Liberia.
Rachel Ehrenkranz
Teach Peace is a wonderful
organization. Every life that Teach Peace reaches out to is greatly impacted,
and through being involved with Teach Peace I have seen my life impacted as
well. Wonderful things are happening thanks to the hardworking individuals that
stand behind this organization.
Laura Minkiewitz
Traveling with Teach Peace
allows one to see the country as the Liberians see it and for what it really is,
beautiful. Through this trip one is given the opportunity to travel, not only to
orphanages, rehabs and missions, but also into the bush of Liberia and finds the
poorest of the poor, some of the most hopeful people in the world. People who
many other volunteer groups may never get a chance to encounter. Visiting
Liberia for a second time this summer showed me how important it is to spend
time with the people of this country and allow them, especially the special
ambassadors, to feel dignified and cared for. Being in Liberia changes people,
it changed me so much so that I had to go back and share this experience with
those around me. The constant smiles, laughter, joys and even sorrows of Liberia
inspires anyone willing to open up and travel onto her soil. Teach Peace
introduced me to a country that now holds a very special place in my heart.
Everything I do, I do thinking of Liberia and her people.
Carmen Cueto
Teach Peace did more than
just give us an excuse to see an amazing country. I truly saw the essence of
love and hope all around Liberia and the people. The organization gave me a
chance to be more connected to the world and to have a first hand look on how
the power of human connectivity can assist in healing destruction, suffering,
and loss of hope. Service work through Teach Peace changed me in the most
wonderful and positive way possible.
M. Victoria Aliaga
I'm very glad to have had the
opportunity to visit Liberia. The presence and contributions of Teach Peace are
important in a country which desperately needs the most basic of resources such
as education, health care, and clean water. The simple acts of offering
emergency aid and a moment of dignity to a disabled child are humbling and
paradigm changing. The Liberians I was fortunate to meet were among the most
capable and welcoming people I've ever met, and the chance to get to talk, work,
and play with them was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Renee Chiang, a high school student, participated
in our 2009 and 2010 trips. She gave children cameras to take pictures and then
put them together to make a music video.

Renee's music
video, while only a few minutes long, communicates what trip participants are
likely to see and how beautiful life is in Liberia.
A
better world is possible when we teach peace in faraway places.
Time Difference
If we
compare California to Liberia, the time difference is either 7
or 8 hours depending on the US daylight savings time change.
This means in the summer when it is 5 pm (or 17 on the chart) in
Liberia it is 10 am on the same day in the Pacific Standard Time
zone (e.g., California).
