The annual Evening of Peace awards dinner has been a fun family event to connect with friends and make new friends for many years. This year the dinner is on a Saturday from 6-9 pm. Please arrive at 4:30 pm if you can help us setup.
A range of food options, including vegan, is available. For tickets and more information, click here. If you already obtained tickets, please know your name is on the dinner list. To save money, we are not mailing dinner tickets this year. At the front door you need only say your name.
Please help us promote this event. The Evening of Peace is one of the few student-led events that helps bring together people from many organizations and recognizes contributions for peace.
Student support needed
Students attend free and since there is no annual membership fee, student tickets are made available by members who purchase a dinner ticket for a student to attend. We have 14 more students attending this year than we have donors so please consider making a donation for a student ticket.
The suggested donation for a dinner ticket is $30. You can also obtain a dinner ticket by calling 530-554-7061. We need to finalize the number of people attending with the catering company soon so please click here to obtain your dinner ticket.
Green Dignity
You may recall that last year we helped students
in Indonesia start a micro-business called Green
Dignity. This micro-business is well on the way
to providing the income needed to fund an
orphanage. Teacher Joe Murphy is
leading this program in Indonesia and his summary of the
program progress was published in International
School Services.

We are making available the Green Dignity bags from Indonesia to raise funds to start a Green Dignity micro-business for the disabled in Africa.
When you attend our 2011 dinner, you will have an opportunity to obtain a Green Dignity bag for $20 or click here to make a $20 donation online and we will send a Green Dignity bag to you.
Fukushima radiation exceeds Chernobyl
On September 1, 2011 it was revealed that the Fukushima radiation exceeds the Chernobyl disaster. At least six municipalities near Fukushima have more than 1.48 million becquerels of Caesium-137 per square meter. At least 76 trillion becquerels of Plutonium-239 have been released from Fukushima. This amount is 23,000 times higher than the previous government announcement.
The half-life of
Plutonium-239 is 24,200 years which means uncountable generations
will pay the price for "safe and clean nuclear energy."
The Wall Street Journal reported that first
comprehensive soil survey in Japan show radiation is
dispersed over a wide area. The survey of over 2,200
locations found dangerous radiation from Fukushima.
Canada is starting to test Sockeye salmon and since a
tremendous amount of radiation was leaked into the Pacific
Ocean, radioactive salmon returning from the North Pacific
to Canada are expected.
There is widespread concern in Japan that their government continues to suppress radiation information. Dr. Tatsuhiko Kodama, one of Japan's leading authorities on radiation at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, reported on July 27, 2001 that the amount of uranium released at Fukushima is equivalent to many Hiroshima bombs. A video of his statement that the total radiation released exceeds 29 atomic bombs is below.
The Telegraph reported that the amount of Caesium (Cs) leaked equals 168 Hiroshima bombs. To read the article, click here.
While the corporate owned media is often silent on this issue, in our last five newsletters we have carefully documented the truth of this global disaster.
