About Us

We exist to teach individuals and organizations how to work for peace.

We invest our energy because we want to safeguard life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. 

Where does the name Teach Peace come from?

In a sentence, we teach peace.

The longer answer begins in 1941 when Franklin Roosevelt's Four Freedoms speech to Congress illuminated how to achieve freedom from war. Our vision builds on this speech for a world at peace that is made possible by freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom from want, and freedom from fear through education that produces action.

To help end and prevent future wars, we work to transform from a world based on greed, pain and cruelty to a world based on generosity, compassion and love.

Our members hunger for a world with meaning, authenticity, and freedom of opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We are careful not to duplicate existing efforts of other organizations.

Teach Peace:

• offers a caring way to engage the general public in discussion.

• fosters collaboration among existing peace groups locally, nationally and internationally.

• serves as a lightening rod of courage for other people to stand up for justice.

• empowers local communities and unites peace pieces into a cohesive force teaching peace.

All Teach Peace programs teach alternatives to violence so that current and future generations can prevent and end wars. Members have donated over 5,200 hours of volunteer time.
